CHARLIE TRAYER'S WORKING COWDOG DEMONSTRATION:

Charlie Trayer's working cowdog demonstrations not only educate and inform cattle ranchers and cowboys but also entertain spectators of all ages, careers, and backgrounds.
There is something special about watching a working ranch cowboy demonstrate the techniques he uses in the day-to-day operation of a ranch.
During a typical demonstration Charlie works on horseback, using a set of Hangin' Tree Cowdogs. Fresh cattle are used and are previously unworked with by dogs. Charlie dispels the common myth that working cattle with dogs makes the cattle wild and uncontrollable. Closing the demonstration Charlie and the dogs load the cattle in a stock trailer in the arena. At the end Charlie answers questions from the audience.

This seminar is the most unique in the country and offers unbiased information on bits. You won't want to miss what she has to say.
Oklahoma Horse Fair is offering this bit and bitting seminar to you free of charge.
Learn what bit you should use for your horse, along with how to it should fit. Understand what makes a bit effective or ineffective because of your horse's facial features. Learn how the size of horse's lips and tongue affect the dynamics of any bit. Participants will learn how to determine the width of their horse's mouth, and where the bit should sit. Learn what chin strap to use and how it fit it. Understand what size reins are appropriate for you. You will be able to troubleshoot problems your horse may be having with a bit. You will learn to find the bit appropriate for a particular phase of your horse's training. By the end of the seminar, you will have an understanding of your horse's physiology and how the each bit affects your horse. You will be a better consumer and not a victim of tack salesperson, most of whom are uneducated about bit dynamics. Understand why "less is more".
You will see a wide variety of bits, from the mildest to the most murderous, including an interesting collection of antique bits, the oldest a, 1865-1879 Navajo Medicine Man's bit.
